Rhythmic Gymnastics Coaches

Joni Spata

was a competitive artistic gymnast and rhythmic gymnast for 10 years. She studied in Denmark at the Academy for Physical Education in Ollerup and Bulgaria at the Lefsky Spartak School for Rhythmic Gymnastics in Sophia and has a BA degree in Education. She has been coaching for over 20 years and has qualified gymnasts to the Junior Olympics, choreographed the USA compulsory routines, has been a speaker at the USAG National Congress, was a certified judge and has published a book on rhythmic gymnastics. Joni coached the Rhythmic Expressions Team in Naperville, The Illinois Rhythmics Team in Wilmette, Rhythmic Chicago and was the original coach of Elite Rhythmics when it opened in 1995 and is presently the Elite Rhythmic Program Director and coach of the Elite Rhythmic Team.

Heather Moy

was a rhythmic gymnast for over 10 years with rhythmic expressions in Naperville coached by Joni Spata and Rhythmic Gems coached by Lana Lashoff. She was the 1989 class II national champion and in 1990 finished 13th at the USA/Canada Championships. She has coached rhythmic at Elite Rhythmics for 3 years, was the SEASPAR Special Olympics Rhythmic Director/Head Coach, and a Rhythmic Gems coach for 4 years.

Rebecca Buckland

is originally from Atlanta where she was a competitive rhythmic gymnast coached by Marina Davidovich and moved to Downers Grove when she was 16 when she was chosen to be a member of the US Olympic Team. Becky competed in the 1996 Olympics as part of the USA Group Team that trained here at Elite. She is a National Speaker promoting Festival Rhythmics and coaches the Elite Rhythmics Team.

Lena Revutska

is our rhythmic team ballet instructor who has more than 20 years of on-stage dance experience in Russia. She has been teaching dance including pre-ballet through advanced ballet since 1988. In addition, her ballet work has included choreography and character dance as well as international travel as part of a dance troupe. She attended the State Choreography School in Russia as an artist of ballet. Lena has been teaching ballet at Elite since 2006.

Morgan Baetz

graduated from Ball State University with an Elementary Education and Dance Performance degree. She began dancing at 3 years old, studying at various studios and attending dance intensives with leading dancers such as Joel Hall and Travis Wall. She danced at the I-355 Grand Opening Celebration, Joliet Jackhammers games, Bolingbrook Promenade festivals, and Dance Chicago. Morgan specializes in Ballet and Jazz/Contemporary, and is well trained in tap, hip-hop, and modern as well.

Margarete Novo

graduated from the Federal University of Espirito Santo in Brazil with a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education. She also has a Master’s degree in Sport and Exercise Psychology from Temple University. She began training in Rhythmic Gymnastics since age twelve, competed at the national level in high school and in college. Margarete has been coaching and teaching Rhythmic Gymnastics as well as other sports since she graduated college. She has been a Rhythmic Gymnastics Coach at Elite for almost one year.

Raoni Xavier

graduated from the school of Bolshoi Theatre in Brazil in Classical Dance. He was trained in rhythmic gymnastics for 7 years in his hometown San Paulo. As a dancer, he competed in the Youth American Grand Prix and received the silver medal winning him a scholarship at the English National Ballet School in London. He moved to the United States in 2013 to study with the Hubbard Street Dance Company and is a member of the Elements Contemporary Ballet. Raoni has experience in all types of dance including ballet, jazz, contemporary and folk dance.

Cheri Rose

started ballet at 5. She studied and performed with Derer Academy of Dance and the Evanston School of Ballet as a child. She attended Colombia College Chicago and danced with various companies—the Chicago Dance Medium, Joseph Holmes Chicago Dance Theatre, and Winifred Haun and Dancers. Cheri performed professionally at the Shubert Theatre in Carousel. She has written dance curriculums, has written and choreographed a full original ballet and has directed a ballet company. She has earned her Grade 6 Cecchetti Certificate in Ballet.
